The diagram below shows the results of a survey of a sample of 1,000 people on the different sources of noise which cause a nuisance. The severity of the nuisance is measured on a scale running from Not annoying to Extremely annoying.

The diagram shows the results of a survey carried out on a sample of 1,000 people on the different sources of noise, which are nuisance.
The information may be divided into four categories according to their degree of annoyance. There is nothing in the Not annoying category. Four sources of noise fall within the largest category, Extremely annoying. Of these, the noise source which people found the most irritating was Barking dogs, followed closely by DIY and then Mobile phones. The least annoying cause of noise in this group was Music.
Moving on to the second category, Very annoying, it is contains two items: Radios and Aeroplanes with the first causing more of a disturbance than the second.
In the third category, Annoying, it can be seen that TVs are more of a nuisance than Radios. As for Pianos, they were considered as only being Fairly annoying by those in the sample.
It is clear that Barking dogs is the most annoying noise source.
